1. What are BSLBATT forklift lithium batteries made of?
Developed and designed for safe and reliable use in electric industrial trucks, the BSLBATT lithium-ion battery system is made of large square lithium-ion cells. The cells are confined in a steel housing to protect against shock and vibration. The battery interconnection uses flexible busbars and high-strand cables. The high-performance lithium-ion cells used provide maximum safety and predictability for challenging industrial applications.
2. At what temperature can BSLBATT forklift lithium batteries be charged and discharged?
BSLBATT forklift lithium batteries should only be charged within the temperature range of 0°C to 45°C (32°F to 113°F) and discharged within the temperature range of -40°C to 55°C (-20°F to 131°F).
3. Will the batteries catch fire?
BSLBATT uses lithium iron phosphate (LFP) in its products as it is a very stable chemistry. The burn temperature is over 500F, much higher than other chemistries such as lithium cobalt at 149C (300F). The chemical stability also provides long cycle lifetimes (2000 at 80% DOD). In addition, there are safety measures built into the pack which prevent overcharging and rapid discharging. Finally, the battery case is made of high-grade steel, protecting the cells from damage, and containing them should a cell breach occur. All these protections mean that under normal usage there is no danger of a fire. The dangers of spills and explosive gas buildup from lead-acid batteries are much more common than a BSLBATT catching fire.
4. How can we provide an 8 year or 12,000 hour warranty?
Based on average usage and 2,000 cycles of the BSLBATT Li-ion battery pack, BSLBATT estimates that the Li-ion battery pack will have a lifespan of 7 to 12 years (depending on the battery model) after which it will have 80% of its original capacity. If the end user runs the battery pack 24/7 and cycles the pack 3 times in 24 hours, the capacity may decrease further after 8 years of use, but the battery pack will still perform as expected.
