Over two full days, more than 40 BSLBATT employees participated in the 14.6-mile, 5-hour challenge with our nonprofit partner, West Point coaching team. This is the first time BSLBATT has participated in this challenge. In order to be able to walk the 14.6-kilometer mountain road, we will share more information and missions about "Qixin Qicheng 618". We caught up with Eric Yi, Executive Director of BSLBATT, to learn more about how they got started and the impact they are having today.
The Power of Walking • Feel the power of one step at a time • That's the power of dripping water through rocks!
Out of balance → out of comfort zone Experience out of balance
Evolution → Facing setbacks Comparison of differences
Trust → Tear off the mask and open your heart to empathize
Team → Consensus and Co-creation Concentration
The long-distance trekking campaign is a journey of mountain exploration and experience, a journey beyond the comfort zone, self-exploration, team inspection, and activation of team co-creation!
Why is time outside so important?
“Being active outdoors and connecting with nature improves health and wellness. Experiencing nature has been proven to decrease anxiety and stress. Individuals who participate in more outdoor recreation are more physically active than those who do not. Connecting to nature increases self-esteem and can provide individuals with a stronger feeling of social inclusion. Simply put, Nature is just good medicine.”
“The COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting economic recession has negatively affected our communities’ mental health and created new barriers for people already suffering from mental illness and chronic disease.
In 2023, after the results of our spring "Qi Xin ● Departure to 618" walking challenge showed that 100% of participants reported improved mental health, we decided to find a way to make this free program available to anyone. At the time, it seemed like a simple thing we could try to motivate people to get outdoors and stay healthy during such a stressful and uncertain time.

1. Set small achievable goals and celebrate them. A five-minute walk around the block or sitting outside to breathe can make a big difference, and we can all squeeze them into our busy schedules.
2. Choose your favorite outdoor activity. Hiking isn't for everyone, but maybe you enjoy biking, mushroom picking, or walking around admiring public art.
3. Have an accountable partner. We found that people who signed up for our program with friends were more likely to stick with it.
4. Change the way you think about the great outdoors. Being outdoorsy just means you go outdoors. You don't have to dress up to be a nature lover in Patagonia and Mount Everest, you just have to actually get out there. "
The BSLBATT team hiked 14.6 miles over the course of 5 hours, and BSLBATT has also committed to making meaningful donations as part of our Go Green program and sponsoring West Point Coaches for this prep event. The BSLBATT team is excited to push our limits this spring and we look forward to many more challenges.
